Remembering 4/15 - Boston Strong

As I'm sipping my coffee this morning I came across this video and wanted to share it with you… It made me reflect a lot about us as a community.

Throughout this week we have gone through a lot of emotional turmoil in our city as we have jumped from confusion to fear, from pain to suffering, from mystery to hopeful anticipation… to finally relief and gratitude. We now embark together on a path to healing and it became evident to me how important it is for us as a community to keep up the momentum because the basis for healing, is through love shared between one another.

Throughout my travels I will never forget the often heard cliché that Americans are cold, that people only look out for themselves, that nobody would lend a hand if you were dying in the street. It was always a heart twisting "one way" conversation but I always knew that it was just a general perception and not the absolute truth.

As we all observed the tremendous selflessness from our neighbors, those running into harms way to care for a stranger in need, to our doctors who worked around the clock to heal the wounded, to our faithful community who offered prayers, touched souls and embraced trembling hearts, to our brave and courageous law enforcement and leaders… I have never been so proud of our city, our community, our people!

We may not all live in Boston, but a part of Boston lives within all of us. As we go on with our lives, remember that others around the world are also afflicted with severe tragedies and we should never be incentive or indifferent towards our neighbors even if they are across the great seas. We need to shine a new light… a light of love because that is exactly what the world needs most at this time. Hatred can only serve hatred, but love serves all.

Let us remember that the greatest is he who serves and who loves his neighbor as himself!
