Excellent Mohalabiya!

The food is very good compared to other middle eastern restaurants in Boston. Their lamb special (usually on sundays) is very good and don't miss out on their excellent mohalabiya

Shawarma King is a good place to go to if you feel like eating a meal that feels like its been cooked at home. They offer a good variety of plat du jours every day, large quantities & at a good price!
Unfortunately the place is very small & cannot accomodate large groups. Owners are very nice & friendly. I would recommend that you try the moloukieh or lamb with rice & the homemade lemonade is great too! I should have tried the daily specials!

The smells were homey, the atmosphere welcoming, and everything looked like it should taste good... Except I should have really gotten the daily special of lamb with rice, or molokhiya with chicken instead of my chicken shawerma sandwich. It was dry, tasteless, and even the garlic paste was missing something. The hommus with ground beef was a waste - the hommus alone was runny and tasteless, and the ground beef was not edible. Next time I'll go for their home made stews instead!
Decent place...

Recently came here for dinner and it wasn't bad.
I tried their chicken sharwarma plate but wish I had gotten the sharwarma sandwich instead. The chicken was a bit on the dry side but thankfully the toum (garlic sauce) helped take it down. The salad and rice that it came with was fresh and tasted fine. Good portions :) Also tried their hummus. Unfortunately it needed LOTS of garlic, it was quite disappointing. But they do have a lot of freshly baked deserts that I wish I tried. They also offer some imported Arabic drinks :) Its a small restaurant and the seating is tight. But their service is very nice, and friendly. I'd go again. The Plat-Du-Jours!

When I first moved to Boston, this was the first place people recommended for Arabic food. They make good shawarma sandwiches (hence the name), but I'd highly recommend their plat-du-jours (or plate of the day). I order from here whenever I'm craving a plate of Mnoukhiyeh.
One major downfall is the seating. It's very crammed in the restaurant and you're literally sitting back to back with the other customers. I wouldn't recommend it if you want to have a seated dinner, but great for pick-up and delivery. And did I mention that they sell T-Shirts? YOU can be the Shawarma King ;) | |
