"The Boston Palestine Film Festival presents Amal Murkus: Voice of Palestine, An Evening of Palestinian Music Past, Present, and Future. Featuring the mother-son duo of Amal Murkus and Firas Zreik. They will be accompanied by the Maqam-Fusion Ensemble (under the direction of Zreik) and the CAC Arabic Children’s Choir (under the direction of Alma Richeh). Amal Murkus is a leading Palestinian singer and actress from the Galilee who has devoted her career to promoting Palestinian music and culture. Murkus has created and released five albums, all inspired by authentic Arab and Palestinian poetry and harmonies, and has performed around the world. Firas Zreik, the son of Amal Murkus and the concert Musical Director, is a Palestinian kanun (lap harp) player and composer. Currently he’s double-majoring in jazz composition and performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston. THE CAC (Center for Arabic Culture) Arabic Children's Choir, directed by Alma Richeh, is the first Arab-American choir in Massachusetts." - [Boston Palestine Film Festival]
